Announcing Our August Site Award Winners

After a whirlwind July, with new contracts getting underway in several locations within our South Coast groundworks remit, August gave us a good opportunity to take stock and reflect on progress across each of our live builds. Not to mention the chance (for a few of the team at least) to take a well-earned holiday ahead of the September rush kicking in.

Those of us that didn't get to enjoy a week by the beach have been doing a fantastic job pushing on to meet daily targets across each of the development sites we're currently contracted on. Something that hasn't gone unnoticed by our SHEQ Manager David Bacon on his weekly site inspections.

David's audits of health, safety and quality controls on our sites give us a week on week picture of how works are progressing on the ground. So his feedback forms an integral part of helping to whittle down our monthly Site Award and Site Manager winners. A process that's been more challenging than ever in August, with so many large-scale groundworks infrastructure contracts in full swing.

Our MD Mike has also been out and about on our clients' builds throughout the month, getting a first hand look at our Mackoy groundworks operatives in action. As well as taking stock of our resources too, which led to a wave of new plant joining our fleet throughout the month. Including compact excavators and closed-cab dumpers from Volvo and Hitachi, as well as Hydrema, with further plant deliveries planned for the New Year too.

So onto our Site Award winners and we have to say it was a tough one to call this time around, with so many of our team showcasing improved site inspection scores and that Mackoy dedication to quality that sets us apart. So it gives us great pleasure to announce that our Site of The Month Award for August 2018 goes to Joey Weightman and Andy Stickland for our Bellway build in Emsworth.

We started development for Bellway in November 2017, and the £7 million groundworks contract called for us to deliver infrastructure for 125 residential units together with new roads for the whole of the site. Andy and Joey, as well as Rick Fall, have been instrumental in delivering a really impressive sales suite on the development. Not to mention overseeing the schedule of works to keep the build pushing on. Achievements we think make you all worthy winners of this month's Site Award prize. £250 each is coming your way. Well done team, great work.

Moving onto the Site Manager of The Month and for August we've awarded this to Sam Bowers our Mackoy Site Manager on our Highwood contract for North Stoneham Park in Eastleigh. This is actually Sam's second Site Manager win, having also been named Mackoy Site Manager of The Month back in March. But credit where credit's due and Sam has been doing an incredible job managing our groundworks operatives on the 120 new home build at North Stoneham Park. A groundworks infrastructure contract worth £5.5million and our first time partnering with the Highwood Group.

Sam's consistently high site scores at Stoneham were key to him winning Site Manager of The Month for the same development twice in one year. And with Sam now moving on from Eastleigh to oversee our operatives on our Binfield site for Bloor Homes, we're naturally expecting his track record for top inspection scores to stay intact. No pressure then Sam! £500 goes to you for maintaining the high workplace standards we pride ourselves on at Mackoy groundworks and civil engineering.
