24 July 2018
May 18 was another eventful month at Mackoy. With our air digger trial taking place, our new branded Ford Transits hitting the road, and groundworks progressing across sites in Stoneham, Medstead and Portchester (to name but a few).
So our May Site of The Month and Site Manager of The Month Award winners really should hold their heads up high. They’ve been a key part of keeping production ticking over, and represent what Mackoy groundworks & engineering is all about. Namely mucking in, and getting the job done to the highest standards, come rain or shine.
Something these two went above and beyond to do during May. So it’s only fair they get the recognition they deserve for their excellent standards, and their unflinching commitment. So without further ado…
First up, our May Site Manager Award goes to Shane Wheeler, Site Manager for Mackoy at the CALA Homes development in Medstead. Despite a huge increase for CMLs, and additional POS and allotment works to contend with, Shane kept infrastructure development at CALA going strong. Something that didn’t go unnoticed by CALA’s own management team who have equally commended Shane for his continued hard work on site.
In fact, the timing of Shane’s Site Manager of the Month Award comes at quite a significant time. As he’s now moving on from Medstead to work on site at our latest groundworks contract in Bracknell, for new client Redrow. So it’s nice to see Shane leave the CALA Homes project on a high, ahead of work beginning on Osborne Gate at Jennetts Park this month. So congratulations Shane, your £500 prize is winging its way to you.
As for the Site of The Month winner, this goes to Daniel Ruggier for Lawrence & Foote/PAL properties at Chineham. Daniel has been instrumental in overseeing improvements to the site (working alongside Rick Fall). And their combined efforts have seen the site’s SHEQ score go up by 10% over two months of inspections by our SHEQ Manager David Bacon.
Some of you may not know Daniel, as he’s a relatively new member of the Mackoy groundworks and infrastructure team. But he’s been looking after the contract for us at Chineham since coming aboard, and has been fielding a barrage of drawing changes and general re-direction requests since he started at the site. So it’s fair to say his first few months with us have been a baptism by fire! Daniel may have another expression for it, but that’s the one we’re sticking with.
In fact, Daniel’s efforts have not only kept productivity at the development speeding along. But his communications with our Commercial and Construction team, as well as his information logs, have been integral to improving the site itself, and our interactions with the client. Especially after the site was badly affected by adverse weather earlier on in the year.
So big hats off to Daniel for doing such a great job and upholding our Mackoy brand values in his attitude and his conduct. You may have missed the last two site manager’s meetings, but we won’t hold that against you. £250 big ones are coming your way, along with £250 for Rick Fall for all his efforts at the Chineham site too.
We’ll be back with news of our June 2018 Site Manager and Site of the Month Awards soon, as well as the winners of our Photo of The Month competition too. So keep sending in your pictures to quality@mackoy.co.uk for a chance to be our July winner. Remember, there’s £100 up for grabs for the photo that best showcases quality Mackoy work on our sites.
