Increasing Emsworth's population with 125 new homes

In November 2017 our groundworkers began essential earthworks on a new Bellway housing scheme located a short distance from the pretty Hampshire market town of Emsworth. With only 10,000 people currently calling Emsworth home, Bellway hopes to bring a fresh wave of residents into the catchment, with its mix of 2,3 and 4 bed houses. Offering prospective buyers a choice of semi-detached and fully detached accommodation set in a new community Bellway have named The Haven.

Local amenities nearby include a cricket ground and two sailing clubs, making the location attractive for fans of these outdoor pastimes. While Emsworth Town Square itself offers a mix of independent boutique shops, bars and dining that lends the town a small community feel and strong sense of identity.

Delivering The Haven's essential infrastructure

Our Mackoy team joined the build from day one and, as is customary in our approach, we recruited from within our local gangs of Hampshire based groundworkers to fulfil our contract requirements. Including our pool of road sweepers, crawler excavator and HGV dumper drivers, whose efforts were integral to completing the initial earthworks on site.

Each plot has been set out to the specific technical site plans provided to us by Bellway's surveyor and client agent. Ensuring the respective homes are positioned in keeping with local planning permissions. Using chalk marking and pegging to determine foundation lines above ground before embarking on excavation works. For which we used a combination of compact closed-cab dumper, and Air Digging tools (essential when closing in around live services).

Blending hi-spec technology with traditional exteriors

The plots, now in their final stages, are due to complete in Autumn 2018. With each home providing a traditional look that complements its semi-rural location. While encompassing the latest tech to ensure comfort and heightened energy efficiency credentials.

The project is just one of 20 we've helped Bellway to roll out in Hampshire, as well as in Dorset, during our time in business. First partnering with the developer back in 2011, not even a year into launching our groundworks and civil engineering operation.
