Helping Persimmon get Harbourside View off the ground
In May 2018 our team got to work breaking ground on a new Persimmon housing development in Portchester, Hampshire. A part of the county's Fareham borough, located just 4 miles northwest of Portsmouth on Britain's South Coast.
The contract appointment called for us to develop and install the essential groundworks infrastructure for all 120-residential units on site. Including the excavation works to clear the site in preparation for development to begin, and the creation of all foundations for each individual 2,3,4 and 5 bed home. Ensuring that each plot is in its rightful position according to approved local authority plans and technical client site drawings.
Creating the footprint for Portchester's new community
As one of the South's largest groundworks providers Mackoy operatives are regularly on site for leading housing developers in the geographical locations we service. This May 2018 build for Persimmon being no exception. In fact, not only are we frequently tasked with the earthworks and the foundation excavations at the developments we're part of creating, but also laying the pipes for sewers and underground services to be connected too. Just a handful of the goundworks services we're able to supply our clients.
On the Cranleigh Road site in Portchester, creating the full sewer infrastructure to service each new home was a key part of the groundworks package we provided to Persimmon. Ensuring that provisions are in place to manage the entire needs of the new community at Harbourside View, without compromising the supply of services to neighbouring homes. Just one of the reasons why it's vital to engage a groundworks supplier with experience of excavating near to and around live underground services.
Targeting a May 2020 completion
Alongside the 120 new 2,3,4 and 5 bed houses we're helping Persimmon to construct at Harbourside View, the site will also feature a public recreational space, complete with children's play area. All of which is on track for a target completion date of May 2020, two years from first breaking ground.
Along with benefiting from excellent motorway links via the M27, Harbourside View residents will also have a choice of the A27 and M3 within close proximity. Not only helping to connect the community to local supermarkets and other amenities in Portchester centre (a mile away from the site) but also offering great commuter links to local employment hubs in the South.
Persimmon have been building homes in Great Britain since the 1970s, creating value-for-money housing in more than 400 nationwide locations.
